The Song remains the same
The Main Place, Old Station Way, Coleford Area M C T I Partnership, Coleford, Gloucestershire, GL16 8RH
Over the centuries the people of the Forest of Dean have stood up for their local rights. Owen Adams will explore the parallels between the Skimmington Riots, Warren James Riots and the Hands off Our Forest the most recent campaign in 2010/11.
Forest resident and University of Bristol postgraduate researcher Owen has studied in great depth the way in which, over the years, there have uprisings from local inhabitants whenever they have experienced a lack of respect for their local rights, perceived or other.
The 2010/11 Hands off Our Forest came about as the result of Government plans to sell off the land in the care of the Forestry Commission.
“Foresters” are fiercely independent and even since then plans to close two local hospitals met with great resistance.
